I wonder...

What the FCC is trying to pull off next week looks to be so bad that even the Public Relations Society of America is objecting! (Read the original press release here.)

I can't help but wonder if I played a small role in this. To backtrack: During the Chicago public hearing on media ownership, I got a tip that the PR industry should be alerted to these deregulation efforts (and the PR industry a HUGE army that can be recruited). A bit of research and I found the phone number of the president of the Chicago chapter of the PRSA. A made a phone call and I made the pitch (PR to a PR person?) that this deregulation would adversely affect the PR industry since more concentrated media ownership would mean fewer news outlets would mean fewer PR jobs for pitching story ideas. I sent a couple of follow-up emails and waited to see if anyone found this message in a bottle and read it.

Maybe somebody did... :-)
