Instead of a newsletter this month, we have a lengthy alert with a number of
announcements for many upcoming CMA-related events.

(1) CMA FORUM ON IRAN, JULY 13 AT CHICAGO TEMPLE

Chicago Media Action announces the next in its acclaimed series of 
Public Education Forums. With increased discussion about Iran in 
recent public discourse and in the media, Chicago Media Action 
presents:

The Threat of U.S. Intervention in Iran: A Chicago Media Action forum

This is a panel and discussion regarding the U.S. / Iran relations 
and policy, and U.S. media coverage of such issues.  Scheduled panelists 
include Stephen Kinzer, Hamid Akbari, Danny Postel, and Saman Sepehri. 
The evening's host will be Chicago radio talk show host Cliff Kelley.

When: Wednesday, July 13, 2005, starting at 7pm

Where: 77 W. Washington Street, Chicago (the Chicago Temple)

(2) NATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR MEDIA REFORM ON CAN TV

CAN TV, Chicago's fleet of public access cable television channels, is 
devoting the July 4th holiday to coverage of the 2005 National Conference 
for Media Reform, in which CMA participated.

Chicago cable television vieweres can watch coverage of the conference 
all day on July 3 and 4, 2005.  The full schedule is online here:

(3) UPCOMING CMA-RELATED CAN TV COMMUNITY FORUM

CMA members also helped assemble a CAN TV community forum about 
Iran, which is scheduled for Chicago cablecast on these times and channels:

Saturday, July 9th at 11 p.m., Channel 21
Sunday, July 10 at 3 p.m., Channel 21
Tuesday, July 12th at 9 a.m., Channel 19

(4) MORE CMA-RELATED ANNOUNCEMENTS

* The next CMA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 12, at 6:30pm, at 
3411 W. Diversey, in Chicago (at the intersection of Milwaukee, Diversey, 
and Kimball, near the Logan Square blue line stop).

* CMA will be the first presenter at a series of Tuesday evenings talks at 
the California Clipper (1002 N. California, Chicago).  The talk is "The 
Great Wurlitzer", about the concentration of media ownership in the 
United States, and is scheduled for Tuesday, July 5, starting at 9pm.
